Our Green Tourism Policy

At Morven House we are trying to minimise our impact on the local environment by continually monitoring all gas, electricity and water consumption. We have installed a rainwater harvesting system to collect rain from our roof into a 4000 litre tank which in turn feeds all our toilets and washing machines. We also collect rainwater to the rear of the property in butts for garden watering and have constructed a small pond to attract wildlife.

In order to reduce gas consumption we have installed solar panels, fitted thermostatic controls to all radiators and insulated roofing areas and lagged pipes.

We aim to reduce waste as much as possible. We compost all kitchen waste and as much waste from guest bedrooms as possible to avoid using landfill. By sourcing food locally within Dorset we also try to use products and services in an environmentally sensitive way.
We are also able to advise guests on local public transport, local attractions and local nature reserves.

We have joined the Green Tourism Business Scheme as an indication of our willingness to conserve the environment and we are currently awaiting grading.
